Chimera

In our today's episode of creatures from HELLas, I want to tell you something about a creature called Chimera.

The name in general has a deep connection to the evil and demonic.
The chimera usually appears before disasters such as earthquakes, storms or volcano eruptions. This is the reason, why it is a bad omen, only to see one of these creatures.

It is not only the meaning of the Chimera that is dangerous, but also the appearance of it. There are different versions with a slightly different description of this creature. In general people describe it as a three-headed monster, which has the body and head of a lion, a snake for a tail and a fire-breathing goat head is coming from its back. With its fire breath, this creature is able to ravage the lands and cause serious destructions.
Variations, such as snake legs or wings on the back are also possible.
The mane adorning the Chimera's head is the reason why many people think that it is male, but due to the fact that the ears of the lionshead are still visible, it is considered to be female.

Besides, it is interesting that scientists use the term "chimera" for their research, to describe an animal with more than one set of genetic codings today.

So what do you think? Is the Chimera a part of the greek mythology or just an invention of Hollywood?

Solution:
The Chimera is a monster of the greek mythology. It resided in Lycia, a place in Asia Minor, where it ravaged the lands with its fire breath. It can be found in contemporary works of fantasy and science fiction as well.
