Hippogriff

It is time for another episode of Creatures from Hellas and with this we will have another guessing-game.
Today we speak about a creature, you might have already heard of. The Hippogriff. But do you know, whether it is onlya creature created by fantasy, or part of the Greek mythology?

The main reasons, why we could describe this creature as supernatural are his appearance and his powers.
The Hippogriff has the front half on an eagle, with huge, wide wings
and the hind half of a horse.
The talons on his front feed let him look
a little bit dangerous. His posture is upright, which is the reason
for his immensely proud appearance.
It is said to be extremely fast, as fast as the lightning. With it's wings, this creature could fly around
the whole world, even to the moon.

Maybe this impressive creature gives you the impression of being very dangerous,
and it is true, that it is not very easy to tame such an animal,
but still it is the symbol of love and impossibility.
The reason for this is nearly obvious: the shape of the Hippogriff refers to the fact that
its parents must have been a horse and an eagle, animals that are usually very different.

Now it is your turn. Do you think that the Hippogriff is just an invention of Hollywood or part
of the Greek Mythology?

Solution:
The Hippogriff is a symbol of the Greek god Apollo and was supposed to live neat modern-day France during middle ages. Nevertheless it appears in various movies or novels as well, for example in Harry Potter, and through this is very well known by most people.
