The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” is an American drama movie from 2005. It's based on the young adult book with the same name by Ann Brashares. The movie shows beautiful places in Greece (Santorini, Oía), Mexico and Canada.

The leading actresses were nominated for the “Teen Choice Award” in that year. In 2008 a second part of this movie was released.

Story:
The movie is about four teenagers named Carmen, Tibby, Bridget and Lena. They are best friends and will spend their summer apart from each other. One day they go to a shop and find a blue jeans that fit all of them perfectly withal their completely different figures. So they buy it and decide to share this pair of jeans during the summer. To keep in touch they send the jeans as well as a letter of their adventures to the person who gets the jeans next. Lena is visiting her grandparents in Greece. There she meets a boy named Kostas and falls in love with him. She finds out that their grandparents are sworn enemies. In the meantime Carmen is spending her holidays in South Carolina to see her father again. When she arrives, she gets surprised by his new fiancée and her children. Tibby is staying at home and is working in a discount department store to finance her movie project. One day she meets a young girl named Bailey who wants to be her assistant. At first Tibby thinks she is annoying but then she gets to know her better and they become friends. Soon she finds out that Bailey has serious leukemia. Bridget is going to a soccer camp in Mexico. She has a crush on one of the coaches of the camp, which is forbidden. She also has to deal with her past, when her mother committed suicide.

The movie shows strong and interesting characters. It is sentimental and sensible and a good example for friendship and mutual support.
