Bayangan

Today I will present you a creature, that you have pobably never heard of, and if you did, you likely had nightmares because of how terrifying this creature is. It is called the bayangan.

The bayangan is a big, cat-like creature, resembling a black panther, except for the fact, that it has 2 tentacles growing from its shoulders, both ending in spiked pads. It uses them to hold or wound its prey, or to defend itself, should anyone be stupid enough to attack it.

What makes this creature truly dangerous though, is its ability to displace light off its fur, so that it always seems to be standing a few meters from where it actually is. Combined with its extreme swiftness the bayangan makes for one terryfying predator.

The original form of the bayangan was slightly different, but at one point humans started capturing and selectively breeding these creatures, which resulted in an even more dangerous result. Because of their high intelligence it also didn't take the 'new' bayangan very long to escape their captors, and now they roam the shadows of our world again, only waiting to pounce onto an unsuspecting victim.

To this day special dogs, that were used by humans to hunt the bayangan, will attack them on sight, should they come across one of these creatures.

So what do you think? Could the bayangan have its roots in Greek mythology?

Solution:
The bayangan has been inspired by the 'Displacer Beast' from the Tabletop Role Play Game 'Dungeons and Dragons'.
