Interview with Constantine XI

Constantine XI Palaiologos – the last emperor of the Roman and Byzantine Empire and a national hero in Greece. In 1453 Constantinople, the empire capital, was captured by the Ottoman Empire and marked the end of the empire. The emperor himself fell in the resulting battle.

 

In this week's interview I was able to meet him in the underworld, the realm of the dead. A talk about the last days of a thousand-year-old empire and the beginning of a new age, desperation and bravery.
