Krampus

Today on “Creatures from HELLas” I would like to introduce a very special creature to you. Maybe you will be able to find out what the creatures’ origin might be.

The creature I am talking about is called Krampus. It has a very frightening appearance as half of its’ body is a goat and the other half is a demon. Although it is half-goat half-demon it is an anthropomorphic figure.

Many people say that the Krampus plays a specific role during the christmas period as it is supposed to be the companion of Saint Nicholas but rather than giving the children gifts the Krampus punishes the children who have misbehaved over the year.

He is usually brown or black, very hairy and has the cloven hooves and horns of a goat. He has a very long tongue and fangs. Christmas time is always something very important for most of the children so you can probably imagine how scaring this creature might appear to a child that is expecting Saint Nicholas coming to give him gifts.

Now it is your turn to have a guess where the creatures’ origin is located and hopefully everyone of you behaves well over the year so nobody has to meet the Krampus in person.

Solution:
The origin of the Krampus is still unclear but the most common theory is that the Krampus has pre-christian origins. Therefore the Krampus is not part of the greek mythology.
