Areion

This week on “Creatures of Hellas” we decided to present to you the so-called Areion. The Areion is a big flying creature having a span width of several hundred meters it darkens the sky and is seen as an omen that the gods are angry and is a safe way to tell that extremely bad things are about to happen.

There have luckily only been very few occasions of it appearing and the few surviving said that the Areion seems to be quite peaceful, even though the massive scales and the gigantic claws make it look really dangerous. According to different stories, it appears during night seemingly out of nowhere and starts becoming visible when the sun rises.

It is told, that the creature starts flying higher and higher until it can’t be seen anymore and as soon as that happens the catastrophe takes place. It might be an extremely deadly plague or a famine or storms that seem to last forever. Whatever it is the very slow-moving Areion is always a horrible sign and is feared by everyone.

There are no reports of the creature doing anything at all besides appearing and again disappearing but many think that the Areion will defend itself if it’s being attacked. No one has ever tried that though.

Hopefully, you will never have to witness this monster appearing and even more threatening, the horrible aftereffects.

And now it’s your turn: Do you think the Areion belongs to Greek mythology or not?

Solution:

Luckily, the answer to the questions is, that the Areion is completely made up.
