"Zorba the Greek" (Movie)

“Zorba the Greek” is a movie based on the novel “The Life and Times of Alexis Zorba” and was written by Nikos Kazantzakis. The movie was created in 1964 starring Anthony Quinn. Only one year later the movie appeared also in the German cinemas where it was just as successful as in many other countries.

The movie was directed Michael Cacoyannis and the movies’ cast also includes Alan Bates, Lila Kedrova, Irene Papas and Sotiris Moustakas. The film was also awarded with the Academy Award in three different categories (Best Supporting Actress, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography).

“Zorba the Greek” is definitely a must watch, not only because it is a great movie but also because it has become an important part of our movie culture. I decided not to tell you anything about the plot because I think that it would be great if you learn more about it by watching it.
