Tarasque

Welcome back on chiosradio for the quiz of the week! So let me get started and present the creature known by the name Tarasque.

 

The Tarasque has a lion head with a body protected by a turtle-like shell, it has three pairs of legs, each of them covered with bear-like claws. His tail is full with protective scales and poisonous breath. Some even described the creature as a dragon, half animal, half fish, thicker than an ox, longer than a horse with sword like teeth sharp as horns.

It is said that the Tarasque can be found in dark forests, lurking in the waters, ready to attack anyone that tries to cross and sinks the ships of those who pass by.

The villagers called upon Saint Martha to help them get ride of the Tarasque. She found the creature in the act of devouring a man, so she sprinkled holy water and held up the cross. The Tarasque then became submissive and obedient. Allowing her to guide the beast to the villagers who then killed it.
