Eurytus

It’s guessing time again. Today for our category “creatures from HELLas” I have another creature for you from the Greek mythology again. But at the end of the article, you still have the opportunity to guess whether I completely made it up, it really belongs to the mythology or I only changed a few things. So, read carefully the following information.

The creature is called Eurytus and was the king of the area Oechalia. Eurytus was the son of Melaneus, the founder of Oechalla. He was married to Antiope, the daughter of Pylon. One special attribute of the creature was shooting with bow and arrows. But he had to learn the skills. His grandfather Apollo, well-known as the archer god, taught him archery. Later on, Eurytus was also a teacher in archery. There is an account that says the creature was killed by Apollo. The reason for that was; Eurytus was so proud and arrogant about his archery skills that he challenged his grandfather.

The creature was the father of six children. One of his children was called Iole. To choose the correct person who is allowed to marry her daughter Iole, he organized a contest in archery. The players had to play against him and his children. Apparently, the son of Zeus, Heracles won the tournament. However, the creature Eurytus didn’t accept his win by claiming he used magical arrows. Moreover, he accused Heracles of stealing cattle and was afraid he would kill his children by access of fury. Therefore, the king of Oechalia forbade Heracles to marry Iole.

So, you have the choice now whether the creature is a creature from the Greek mythology or not. Just click the solution button below to get the right answer!
