Bougaza

The "ChiosRadio.gr-Kitchen" is back with an awesome dessert called 'Bougaza'. Actually the 'Bougaza' could be prepared in many varieties like this in a very sweet variation and there are also savory recipes (for example filled with Feta and spinach).

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages Flaky pastry
  • 6 big cups milk (but not filled to the brim)
  • 10 EL sugar
  • 3/4 big cups semolina (durum wheat semolina),
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 g Butter
  • Grated lemon rid
  • 2 EL Butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar and cinnamon to dredge

We start to heat the milk together with the sugar and slowly slowly we add the semolina. Keep stirring and leave the substance inside the sauce pan boil up for about 3 minutes until you have a viscous consistence.
Even when you have this consistence keep stirring because otherwise you will have a skin on the top. Then, when the substance is colder add the eggs, butter and the lemon rid. Now, take the mixer to and after your later added ingredients are mixed with the viscous consistence, boil it up one more time.

The melted butter needs to be spread. The first package of the flaky pastry can be put on the griddle with baking paper. Take the semolina consistence and spread it on the flaky pastry and add the second package on it. That's everything- f course we need to put it into the preheated oven on 180-200 degrees for about 50 minutes.

Before serving you can mix the sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle this sweet mixture over the 'Bougaza'. Usually the 'Bougaza' is eaten immediately and hot, but also cold it is a real treat!

So, I can not wait any longer and so I will eat it hot straight off the oven! Enjoy your 'Bougaza' dear listeners and see you the next Thursday!
