American Fugue

At a crucial stage of his life, one Greek writer receives the invitation to participate in a literary program in America.
He decides to go to leave behind the ghosts that persecute him.
But in the new country he does not find peace.

 So one morning, he rents a Ford and he gets lost in the desert.
There he meets the man who will change his destiny, and who will be an opportunity to again rewrite his entire life.
But he soon realizes, however, that not only his past is CEISENG(chasing him, but also that of the other man.


Alexis Stamatis is a Greek novelist, playwright and poet born in Athens in 1958. Amongst other work, he has published eleven novels, six books of poetry and a number of plays and his books are translated in most of the European languages.
He studied Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens and took postgraduate degrees in Architecture and Cinematography in London.
He has represented Greece in various Book Festivals and seminars all over the world. He has been working for many major Greek newspapers and magazines and currently teaches creative writing at the Hellenic American Academic Foundation and at the Herakleidon Art Museum.

Half thriller and half novel, American Fugue reveals on the one hand the different faces of America and the search for the true identity of the modern man and the meaning of existence.
